2s in a 1/8 buggy?

I have a Tekno EB48 buggy that I would like to run a 2S setup. Currently the buggy has a Tekin RX8 / Pro 4600 / 14t pinion combo but after the first run this weekend, the ESC temp'd out with a measured temp of 180F. Now granted the outside temps were 95F and after the fact I noticed the ESC fan was not runnning but am I chasing a setup that will never work (temperature wise)? I would really like to try a 15t pinion but if I can't get the temps down I don't think it will be possible. I did order a new ESC fan.

Tuning Motors

So I recently purchased an R1 17.5 V21. I read in the R1 boards that a good place to start is anywhere between 40 and 45. What I have never done before is spend time on getting that perfect tune because I have always purchased the pre-tuned motors like the Team Scream, Fantom, etc. I have gone on YouTube to see how people tune their motors there and I am a bit concerned that people like Nick Adams are making things sound nice and logical but could potentially be giving bad advice. I was wondering, what is the best practice as far as getting your motor perfectly tuned for a specific track? Pick a gearing and then select the right timing? Or select the right timing and then get to the correct gearing? Either? I know that I want to keep my motor temp under 160F. Are there any other pitfalls I should look out for?

Hex and nut driver tool lot: most new

All are basically new. Got in a buy out. The 2 black drivers are 1.5 and 2.5. The colored set (integy) is all the normal sae and metric sizes. The red sizes can be seen in pics as well as the nut driver sizes. All tips are perfect. These were used to put 2 kits together and that is it. Includes all the tools in pics including the bin. $70 shipped

bandit and custom speed car/drag car

Bandit roller has powerstroke rear shocks, carbon fiber wheely bar, mod 1 gear, custom made adapters for serpent wheels, one tire is repaired works fine i have a replacement, aluminum steering. I do have a couple 8th scale castle escs or sidewinder 3 esc with 7700kv castle for extra.

Custom made carbon fiber chassis, weld racing aluminum wheels front and rear, mamba x 5700kv sensored, savox 1251. Was test ran for like 2 minutes.
